Welcome to the Haiti Health Initiative (HHI) humanitarian health team! The Board of Directors thanks you and your family for donating your time, resources, and talents to help make a difference in the lives of the impoverished people of Timo.
The primary objective of HHI is to provide for the improvement of the overall health of rural Haitians, one village at a time. On the upcoming trips, we will accomplish that purpose by providing health services (medical and dental) and health education to impoverished villagers in the remote location of Timo. The humanitarian teams work together to find manpower, equipment, and supplies and to make the humanitarian health mission an excellent experience for all team members and the people they will care for.
Donations and Supplies Needed
If a trip to Haiti is out of reach, consider donating some of your time by organizing efforts to collect health supplies to be taken on our next trip to Haiti. The following items are critical for each humanitarian mission’s success: 600 hygiene/dental kits, 300 toothbrushes, 300 toothpaste tubes, 300 rolls of dental floss, 100 newborn kits, 100 jump ropes, 100 bulb syringes, 30 delivery kits, and 10 midwife kits. For more information on what our current needs are, please contact Marc-Aurel at MMartial@haitihealthinitiative.org or 801-830-3043.
Monetary donations can be made through this site’s Donate page.
Volunteer in Haiti
Each team member must pay an all inclusive registration fee of $1,500 prior to the registration deadline. Payment should be sent to HHI c/o Luke Ellsworth (HHI’s accountant), at 1761 Gold River Drive, Orem, Utah 84057. It is foreseen that airfare for the trip will cost approximately $900-$1,100 and food and ground transportation will cost approximately $400 per person. Additional costs for travel insurance and tips for native helpers will also be covered by the registration fee. The remaining amount of each registration fee will be used to buy medical, dental, and educational supplies to be distributed on the upcoming trip. While it is foreseen that all funds will be expended as described, any remaining funds will be replaced in HHI’s account to be used in furtherance of the goals of HHI. We encourage participants to raise funds for their registration fee among their personal circles of influence and through other appropriate fundraising methods.
Note: Team members are expected to provide for their own travel insurance, transportation, and room and board fees. Additionally, they are expected to interview with the team leaders and attend one preparation meeting and the packing meeting prior to going to Haiti.
If you are interested in joining us on one of our trips to Haiti, please contact Marc-Aurel at MMartial@haitihealthinitiative.org or 801-830-3043.
