Sustainable Development

Sustainability in Timo, Haiti

Located in an off the grid mountainous region, access to Timo is limited to dirt paths traveled by mule and foot.

HHI focuses on implementing culturally appropriate and sustainable solutions to the public health needs in remote villages, one at a time. HHI seeks not to give handouts or to set up bandaid solutions but to develop the potential of remote Haitian villages sustainably so that one day the residents of those communities can carry on independent of HHI's assistance.

HHI's development goals and focus on sustainability generally align with the formal "Sustainable Development Goals" set forth by the United Nations. The graphic below is courtesy of the United Nations and exhibits a general idea of what HHI's humanitarian projects generally seek to accomplish.

Haiti Health Initiative aims to improve the overall health and well being of rural Haitians, one community at a time. We seek to accomplish this through providing education and services in primary health care, dental care, public health, and nutrition within each community at risk.
